One sure fire way to kill the mood in a gay porno is to start the flick with a death montage. At the beginning of "The Idol", we're mourning the death of star athlete Gary (Kevin Redding). Through flashback, we meet a variety of sordid characters who have touched Gary's life in some way or another prior to his untimely end.In a well-acted cameo, we discover that Gary's girlfriend Karen (Darla-Lee Bennett)just won't put out, leaving our hero no choice but to jerk it off in his car. Spying nearby is Terry (Mark Bitler), an innocent looking pup who wants to get to know the star athlete better, but can't seem to break the ice.
We get our standard shower room sequence in "Idol"; it's a hot group scene where Gary is introduced to lockerroom mansex. He?s reluctant to participate, hungrily watching slutty Derrick Stanton blow two of his teammates. Stanton has that same 'come-fuck-me' look in his eyes that you see in all of his fuck flicks from the 70s and 80s. Gary does eventually accept a blowjob from mustached Jim Bartolotta, but never loses that deer in the headlights sense of bewilderment. The gang takes turns barebacking Stanton, who takes it up the ass like a professional.
The Coach (Nick Rogers) spies an opening during Gary's weekly massage and grabs it. With the door open to new sex possibilities, Gary doesn't seem to mind when Coach buries his face in his ass for a thorough rim job. Inspired, Gary next puts the moves on his blood relation, his cousin Chuck (Greg Dale). The two young guys explore exactly what it means to be versatile when Gary begs his cousin to fuck him. The film ends with a sappy love sequence where we learn who Terry really is.
They really don?t make ?em like they used to. Is that a good thing or not? Strangely, in ?The Idol? you get invested in the characters through the plotline in this sex flick meets coming out story. The soundtrack underscoring the action, the clothing and hairstyles are all straight out of the disco era, but you might find yourself looking up additional flicks from this director for more than nostalgia?s sake.
