The sheer variety of Europorn available today never ceases to amaze me. If Gorbachev's perestroika ever did anything for the U.S., its revitalization of a porn industry running out of new ideas was one of its biggest boons.
"Young and Innocent 3" hails from the home of perestroika, and what a feast for the eyes it is. No fewer than 11 wildly young, thin, and pale cuties ravage one another during a fishing trip to a picturesque lake, each pairing off for hot lovin' in the sun whenever he gets the chance. But how is this different from any other low-budget adult entertainment pouring out of Eastern Europe today?
The answer lies in Alex Clark's and Adam Russ 's approach to setting each scene. Many of their images are romantic, not in the flowers-candy-and-candlelit-dinner way, but in the literary sense, in the way that they seek to cause emotion in the viewer, just like anything romantic should. For example, one of the sun-drenched scenes starts with the very young-looking Alexander D. standing nude in the lake next to a mare, which he is splashing with water in order to cool her down. The boy's lack of acting skills only makes the composition of the scene that much more interesting, and it's almost as if we've been transported back in time to a kinder, more pastoral life. Fantasy? Sure -- and that's the directors' point. Even though we know by the models' dress and the absurdly Americanized subtitles ("Nice ride!" is one of the more grammatical ones) that we're firmly in 2001, the directors let us see these boys as coming from any time and any place, which adds greatly to their desirability.
Maybe I'm reading too much into a simple fuck film, but I don't think so -- this one's worth a look just because, unlike so much porn today, it's effortlessly artful, not determinedly artsy. The camerawork is simple but clear, and the sound is generally true except for the occasional dubbed moan. The sex is very good: these boys really like one another, and it shows, not just in the way they touch and caress each other before getting started, but in the way the camera lingers on the boys after their cumshots, so we can enjoy their climaxes as much as they have. A couple of the models seem to have studied at the Bel Ami School of Kissing (the tongue thing -- you know what I mean) and some of the boys are bit undernourished, but Clark and Russ have assembled a mighty fine looking cast, including an especially gorgeous shepherd boy named Sasha.
To sum up, if you're fond of the pole-thin Euroboy with a big dick, this video will be self-recommending. If not, take a look at "Young and Innocent 3" and see the best that the fall of communism has to offer to porn connoisseurs today.
